My garage door spring snapped at 6am, now what?
Tuesday morning I hit the opener and heard this loud BANG, then the door just froze halfway up and the cable went slack. After some internet searching I found the torsion spring broke clean in two, and a replacement kit online runs about $80. Has anyone in Amarillo tackled this swap themselves, or is this one you always call a pro for?

Did ours last spring after the same 6am surprise, took a solid afternoon with two floor jacks and a lot of patience. Winding those springs is sketchy as hell, watched like five YouTube videos first and still almost lost a finger when the bar slipped. For $80 in parts vs a $300 service call, it's doable if you're handy, but honestly the tension on those things is no joke.
