Tried feeding an AI my old sketches to see if it could finish them, got a nightmare instead
I scanned about 30 pages of half-finished doodles from 2019 and fed them into an image generator last week, thinking it would just fill in the blank areas. Instead it turned my simple line art into hyper-detailed monsters with extra limbs and textures I never drew, like it invented horror where I left space. The weird part is one of those results actually looked better than anything I could finish on my own, which honestly stings to admit. I learned that the tool isn't just copying me, it's adding its own visual noise that changes the whole feeling of a piece. Idk if that means the final image is less mine or if I'm just the starting point now. Has anyone else seen their personal style get warped in a way that feels both cool and totally wrong? Maybe it's just me but I can't decide if I should lean into that or trash the experiment.

Happens all the time. Best move is to treat the AI output like a rough sketch from another artist and redraw the parts you like by hand, then you keep the cool parts and kill the wrong stuff.
