The hiring tool at my old job auto-rejected me for a job I already had, and nobody could explain why
About 6 weeks ago I applied to move into a different team at the company I work for, mostly out of boredom honestly, and the portal told me within 9 minutes that I was not a fit. I still had my badge, I sit 40 feet from the hiring manager, and she swore up and down she never saw my name come through at all. Turns out the resume screener was scoring applicants on keyword match against the job post, and since my title on file was "Associate II" it just threw me in the no pile. My coworker Priya got through because she reformatted her resume the night before with the exact words from the posting pasted in. So now I want to know, how many real people are getting filtered out of jobs they could already do, and does anyone have a story where this happened to them?

Copying the job posting's exact words into my resume got me past that same dumb filter.
