The difference 6 months of hangar floor epoxy made
I painted my hangar floor with epoxy back in April as a weekend project. Yesterday I walked in and saw how clean it still looked compared to the old stained concrete. Before the epoxy, oil drips would soak in and leave dark spots that never came out. Now I just wipe them up with a rag in a minute. Has anyone else tried a different floor coating that holds up better to brake fluid?
Hate to be that person but actually the epoxy does the opposite. It hides loose bolts because the goop fills the gap around the head and makes everything look snug even when its not. You gotta scrape it off to even see if the bolt is tight which kind of defeats the purpose. Better to just use a torque wrench and check them manually every season. The epoxy is really just for vibration dampening and keeping the bolt from backing out on its own. But if you rely on it to tell you something is loose you'll end up with a wobbly mess before you notice.
