That $500 cellular communicator upgrade I regret installing
Last spring I swapped out a perfectly good landline dialer on a client's panel in Tucson because they wanted cellular for faster response. Cost me $500 for the module and labor, plus two hours of programming headaches. Three months later the cell tower in their area went down for a day and the whole system was silent, while the old phone line would have still worked. I keep hearing everyone push cellular as the only way, but for some rural spots, POTS or a dual path setup is worth the extra monthly fee. Anyone else have a backup fail that made you question the trendy upgrade?
