Rental algorithm kept rejecting me until I changed one thing in my application
I've been trying to rent a place in Austin for the last 3 weeks. Every single online application got denied within hours, no human ever called me. Landlords all use that same screening software. I pulled my credit report, checked my income docs, everything looked fine. Then a property manager friend told me to check what address I put down for my current rent. I had my old apartment from 2 years ago, not the one I'm actually in now. The algorithm was flagging me as "unverifiable residency" or something. Switched it to my actual place, got approved the next day. It's wild that a simple outdated field can tank your whole rental search before a person even sees your file. Has anyone else had a similar thing where the data input mattered more than the actual data?
