I finally got my trail cam footage off that mountain after 3 weeks of guessing
Back in April I set up a game camera on the ridge above Silverton, Colorado, hoping to catch some weird lights I'd seen twice from the highway. The first retrieval trip I forgot the SD card adapter, so I hiked 4 miles for nothing. Second time the camera had flipped face down, probably a bear, and I got 200 photos of dirt and elk butt. Third trip the batteries were dead, I used cheap ones from a gas station, my fault. Finally on the fourth try I pulled the card and found 40 seconds of a glowing orb zigzagging over the trees, no sound, no heat signature on the IR. It took 3 full weekends to solve what should have been a 2 hour check, and now I'm kicking myself for not buying the solar panel model. Has anyone else had their best evidence stuck in a dead camera for weeks, or am I the only one who learns the hard way?
Did you check the timestamp on that orb footage against any flight paths? I've had good luck pointing folks to the NUFORC site when they catch something odd on a ridge cam.
