Appreciation post: The way we talk about filler episodes has totally shifted in the last 5 years

Back in 2018, my local anime club would just skip them, but now we have whole threads analyzing their character moments. Did the pandemic making us all watch more cause this?

You know, I never saw it that way before. Binging does turn filler into a little break instead of a letdown.

Wonder if it's also about streaming. Binging a whole show makes filler feel different. You're not waiting a week for new plot, so those slower episodes become a breather. Maybe we just got better at enjoying the downtime in stories.
