Used to watch 15 shows a season, now I finish maybe 2, and a comment at Anime Boston last month made me get why
Honestly I used to grab everything new every season, like 15 shows on my list, and I would force myself through all of them just to keep up with the group chat. Ngl it was a chore. I would watch six episodes of some slice of life thing at 2x speed while eating dinner and not remember a single character name. Then last month at Anime Boston I was in line for a panel and this guy next to me said he picks one show a season and rewatches it twice before moving on. At first I thought that sounded boring. But then I tried it with Frieren over like 3 weeks and I actually caught all the small stuff, the background shots, the pauses, the way the music drops out. Now my list is short and I remember everything I watch. Tbh I think binging ruined how I take in shows for a while there. Anyone else switch to slow watching and feel weird about missing the seasonal hype?
Kinda true but also not totally fair to binging imo. The real problem is the 15 shows a season thing, not watching fast. I binged Frieren too and still caught all that stuff cause I actually cared about it. The 2x speed dinner watching is what kills a show, not the pace itself. If you pick 2 or 3 shows you're actually hyped for and watch them fast, that hits way harder than forcing down 15 at normal speed. Slow watching works for you cause it made you picky, and being picky is the whole trick.
