Vent: spent 2 months stuck on which subs are better for a long shonen, and I still can't decide
Honestly, I burned like 6 weeks going back and forth on whether to watch subs or dubs for a 300 episode shonen, and I even made a spreadsheet comparing voice casts. One side says subs keep the original emotion and jokes intact, the other says dubs let you actually watch the animation instead of reading. I ended up rewatching the same 12 episodes both ways in my living room in Portland and got nowhere. Which one do you all pick for a show that long, or do you just flip based on the specific series?
Man, this reminds me of when I spent a whole weekend picking a new coffee grinder and ended up just using the old one out of spite. For a 300 episode show I'd say just pick subs and move on, cause the dub cast can change halfway through and that throws me off way more than reading does. I got burned on one long series where they swapped out a main voice in season 4 and I didn't even notice for ten episodes. Reading fast is a skill anyway, you get used to it after like 20 episodes. Six weeks of spreadsheets is longer than most shows take to hook you, so just start watching.
