Switched from a pole pruner to a handsaw for deadwood, night and day

Been doing deadwood removal on some big old oaks in Austin for the last month. My 12 foot pole pruner just couldn't reach the inner canopy without tearing up live growth. Finally broke down and climbed with a Silky Zubat, finished a tree in 45 minutes that took me 3 hours before. Has anyone else found that the reach gear actually slows you down when precision matters more than distance?
