Slow shutter photos of stars looked like mush until I tried stacking
I used to take single 30 second shots of the Milky Way with my DSLR and wonder why they came out blurry and grainy. About 6 months ago I borrowed a buddy's star tracker and shot 40 frames of Orion at 90 seconds each. Stacking them in free software like Siril turned a fuzzy mess into a crisp image, but it took three tries before I got the polar alignment right. Has anyone else found that the first stacked image you make is always the worst one you'll ever process?
