Old adjuster's silver paint trick caught me off guard
Had a 2014 silver Toyota Corolla come in last week. Customer's kid clipped a mailbox, whole rear door needs blending. I was ready to just match the code and spray. But this adjuster, guy's been doing this 30 years, stopped me. Said on silver you gotta check the horizontal vs vertical panels first, same code can look different depending on angle. Sure enough, the door was a shade lighter than the quarter panel, direct sun made it obvious. He told me to tint my mix toward the darker side and blend further into the next panel. Did that, got a perfect match, customer couldn't even tell where the repair was. Made me wonder how many jobs I rushed through before. Any of you guys check for that angle issue on metallic colors before you shoot?

Saw a similar trick on a detailing forum once, metallic flakes sit different on vertical vs horizontal surfaces, it's wild how much the light changes it. Sounds like that adjuster saved your butt, good thing he caught it before you laid that paint down.
