Unpopular opinion: torque specs in the manual are a starting point, not gospel
Spent 12 hours chasing a vibration on a 2016 F-150 at the shop off Route 9 in Poughkeepsie and it turned out I was torquing the lug nuts to the book spec of 150 ft-lbs on wheels that had been swapped to aftermarket rims with a different seat angle, so they never sat flat. A guy named Dwayne who's been turning wrenches for 30 years walked over, looked at my torque wrench, laughed, and said "the book don't know what rims the customer bolted on." How do you all handle it when the manual and the actual parts on the truck don't match up?
