Serious question, has anyone else seen the new package sorting machines at the main hub?
Our facility got two of the new automated sorters installed about six months ago. They can process around 12,000 parcels an hour, which is way more than the old manual lines. The thing is, they moved four guys off the sort floor to just watch the machines and clear jams. It's faster, but it feels like we're just there to babysit the thing that took our actual job. Has anyone in a warehouse or plant seen a setup like this, where the machine does the work and you just fix its mistakes?

Ugh, that's exactly it. It's like they just swapped one job for a worse, more boring one. You go from actually moving boxes and sorting to basically being a janitor for a robot, just waiting for it to mess up so you can stick your hand in and clear a jam. It feels less like a promotion and more like being put on standby, which is way more draining. The progress just feels hollow when you're stuck watching the thing that made your old skills pointless.
