Am I the only one who thinks a $900 crimper for a few harness pins is overkill?

A lead at the Tulsa hangar swore I needed the $900 ratcheting crimper for a job with maybe 10 pins, so I used the $60 one instead and every pin pulled clean on the first try. What cheap tool has saved your backside on the line?
