Noticed a huge difference in my B757 after swapping out the original pitot static test set for a new DMC 3500
After using the old analog unit for 7 years, the DMC cut my leak checks from 45 minutes to under 15 on a 767 over in Atlanta last week, has anyone else seen that kind of time save?

Did you ever have one of those old analog units that seemed to 'drift' by itself? A buddy of mine at Allegiant swore by his old test set until he pulled his hair out for three days chasing a phantom leak on a 757, finally swapped it out and the new unit found the issue in ten minutes. He said he felt like an idiot for waiting so long.

Honestly, did you ever try just recalibrating the zero point every morning before you started? I had a similar situation on a CRJ where the old analog leak detector would just slowly wander off zero, drove me nuts for a day and a half. Finally, I started zeroing it on ambient air every time I picked it up, and that cleared up most of the phantoms. Still took me longer than it should have to figure out, but swapping to a digital unit fixed the rest of the nonsense. Your buddy's story is pretty spot on though, those old units are just not worth the headache anymore.

Hang on, wasn't the DMC 3500 doing leak checks on that 767, not a 757? I think you meant the bigger frame there but it's still a great time save.
