TIL a guy on my crew torqued a pitot heat connector to 45 in-lbs because 'it felt snug'
I was in the hangar at Tulsa last week and heard him say he never bothers looking up torque values on small hardware since the spec sheet is 'just a suggestion.' He's been doing this 12 years and the connector passed a continuity check, so nobody caught it until I pulled the maintenance manual and saw the real number is way lower. How do you bring this up with a guy who outranks you without it turning into a whole thing?
