That time my aunt corrected my macaron technique in front of 12 people
Honestly, this happened at a family brunch in Chicago about 2 months ago. I brought a tray of lavender macarons I'd been testing for weeks, and my aunt took one bite, then said 'your feet are too big, you need to rest the shells 40 minutes longer.' She wasn't wrong, the feet were blobby, but saying it that loud in front of everyone stung. I waited for her to leave, then quietly asked her about her resting method, turns out she taps the tray twice before baking. Has anyone else had a relative call them out mid-bite, or is my family just extra? I'm still using her trick though, it actually fixed my batches.
