Vent: My local library pulled a book after 3 parent complaints, now I can't find it anywhere
Last Tuesday I walked into the public library in Dayton to grab a copy of "The Bluest Eye" for a book club, and the lady at the desk told me they moved it to the locked reference shelf. Apparently three parents complained about the content over the summer, and the board voted to restrict it to adults only. I get that some folks have strong feelings, but now I gotta show ID and fill out a form just to read a novel that won a Nobel Prize. The librarian whispered that she disagreed but couldn't say more. Has anyone else had a book get yanked to a back room like that, and how did you push back without making a scene?
