Bought a six pack of banned quaalude knockoffs in TJ back in '81 and my back pain vanished
I know that sounds nuts but hear me out. Back around 1981 I was working construction in San Diego and my lower back was shot from hauling lumber all day. A buddy of mine swore by these little white pills you could get across the border for about $3 a pack, stuff that got pulled from US shelves years before. Two of those and I felt like a new man for a solid eight hours, no jittery feeling like the stuff the doctor gave me. Then the DEA cracked down hard in '82 and you could not find them anywhere for love or money. I still wonder if the stuff on shelves today would even come close. Did anybody here ever mess with that old formula before it got yanked, or am I just chasing a ghost?
The part nobody talks about is how the raw ingredient got locked down, not the pills themselves. Methaqualone powder came mostly from a handful of overseas factories, and once the feds leaned on those suppliers the whole pipeline dried up overnight. So even years later, some guy with a pill press could make the shape but not the actual drug inside it. That's why the stuff vanished for good instead of just going underground like other things did.
