Update: my mower guy swore by the banned string trimmer and I finally get why it got pulled
My neighbor Gus, who fixes mowers out of his garage in Akron, handed me an old string trimmer from his shelf and said the feds yanked it because the guard was too small and people kept whacking their shins. I figured he was just unloading junk, but it cut through a summer of weeds on my back fence in 20 minutes with one charge. Then I saw the missing guard. Three little plastic nubs on the line head and no shield at all, and I get why it got recalled. Now I have a borrowed trimmer, a scuffed boot, and a new rule about taking free stuff from Gus. Did anyone here actually keep one of these and put a guard back on it?
