Clipper blade slipped mid-fade and took a chunk out of a kid's hairline

Was doing a skin fade on a 12 year old last Saturday and my Andis blade just jumped off the lever mid stroke. Left a bald spot right above his ear. I had to stop, apologize, and blend the whole thing into a shorter cut. Has anyone found a fix for clippers that lose tension mid-cut?

Tighten the screw on the tension lever, that usually does it.

Yeah, @the_drew's right about that - have you tried cleaning out the dust in the gears first though?

And honestly that dust trick saved me a ton of hassle on my older machine. I just popped the cover off and hit everything with compressed air and it ran way smoother. Definitely worth trying before you start messing with anything more complicated.
