Rant: I just hit 500 bottom bracket jobs and I'm honestly shocked
I was cleaning up my bench last night and flipped through my old work tickets, just out of curiosity. I started counting the ones marked 'BB service' or 'BB install' and the number hit 500. That's a ton of cranks pulled and threads chased. It matters because I used to hate them, always worried about creaks and cross-threading. Now it's just another Tuesday, but seeing that count made me realize how much muscle memory you build without noticing. Anyone else have a repair count that snuck up on them?

Yeah, that's a lot of grease under the nails. I hit a similar wall with headset presses, just a blur of cups and bearings after a while.

That's wild, but you're counting wrong. Those tickets are for bottom bracket jobs, not just the bottom brackets themselves. Each one probably had a crank pull too, so your real number is way higher.

A good crank puller and a big cheater bar saved my sanity on those jobs.

Man, you're totally right. Forgot about the crank pull. That's a whole extra step of grunt work right there. Adds at least ten minutes of sweat and swearing per bike. Makes the whole job way more of a pain. Solid point.
