My uncle in Tampa made me question if drug ads are even real
He's 68 and on five meds for blood pressure and cholesterol, but he swears the TV ads with the happy people dancing are what made him ask his doctor for one of them. Turns out that drug costs him $212 a month after insurance, and the older generic did the same job for $14. We argued for like 20 minutes about whether the ads exist to inform or just to push expensive names. Does anyone else think those commercials should have to list the generic alternative right on the screen?
Formulary stuff changes all the time anyway, so that $212 price could jump to even more next year. Plus, the generic might not be on there at all, which is a whole other headache.
