Rant: My wife's $340 inhaler got capped at $35 in January and I owe an apology
For two years I was the guy in this group saying price caps were just politicians making noise and nothing would actually change at the counter. Then on January 6th I picked up my wife's asthma inhaler at the CVS on Haggerty Road in Canton and the girl said $35, and I actually asked her to run it again because I figured she grabbed the wrong box. She showed me the screen and said the new law kicked in January 1st, and her old copay was $340 for the same two puffs a day she has needed since 2011. I sat in the truck in the parking lot for a few minutes doing the math on what that saves us, about $3,600 a year, money we were pulling out of savings every single month. I still think these companies get away with plenty, but I was wrong that nothing would reach the register. Has anyone else watched a regular script drop this hard since New Year's, or is it just certain drugs?
