Learned last week that 1 in 3 roommate fights in my city trace back to a $40 shared Costco run
My roommate and I were about to blow up over a $62 Costco trip when a friend who works at a housing office in Denver mentioned they see shared bulk runs as the number one money fight, not rent or utilities. The real problem was that big packs feel communal so nobody wants to itemize a $9 bag of coffee and a $14 pack of paper towels. We started keeping a running note in our phones during the trip and paid our own items at checkout, and the fight just vanished. Has anyone else had a bulk store run turn into a whole thing, or is it just my place?
Did you know that the 40 pack of Kirkland toilet paper might as well come with a free argument? My old roommate and I once had a two day cold war over a rotisserie chicken that cost like five bucks. Your phone note idea is smart, I might have saved myself a friendship or two with that one.
