Toured a shop up in Gary and counted 6 guys working without a single hard hat
Walked through a non-union outfit up in Gary doing some pressure vessel work and not one guy on that floor had a hard hat on, in a building with overhead crane traffic all day. The foreman told me they "save time" not gearing up, but I watched a guy duck a swinging load twice in ten minutes. Any of you ever walked away from a job over safety like that, or am I being soft?
