My 300 page cookbook survived my sewing machine but died in my hands with a bone folder
I pressed the text block for two days under 40 pounds of scrap marble, sewed it with linen thread on tapes, then rounded and backed it, and the spine held perfect. But when I went to set the hinge on the case, my cheap plastic bone folder left shiny burnish marks on the cloth that I could not get out, while a $14 teflon folder my mentor in Boise gave me slid clean with zero marks on a test piece. So is the fancy folder worth it, or am I just pressing way too hard?
