I had to pick between the sunny east window in my kitchen or the shaded corner by the stairs for my new phalaenopsis, and I went with the sun because I thought more light meant more flowers. Turns out that spot hit 85 degrees by 3pm last Tuesday, and the leaves started looking like pale, sad lettuce leaves within 48 hours. Has anyone else cooked an orchid by trusting a 'bright spot' that was actually a heat trap, and what did you do to revive it?
Did you check if the pot was sitting in direct sun through the glass, or was it just the air temp that spiked? That makes a big difference on whether you can save the roots or if it's mostly leaf damage.
