Rant: I dropped $42 on a "beginner friendly" fern pack and 5 of the 6 died in a month
I ordered one of those assorted fern bundles from a seller on Etsy back in March, thinking I'd fill out a shady corner of my yard here in Knoxville. The listing said "hardy, easy, no fuss" and showed photos of lush maidens and autumns. Five of the six croaked within four weeks, and the one survivor looks so sad I'm scared to even touch it. Turns out the seller just dug them out of a greenhouse and shipped them bare root in a plastic bag with no moisture. Has anyone found a reliable place for ferns, or should I just stick to the native plant sale at the botanical garden next spring?
