Watched a wall I built in 2019 go from grey mess to showpiece after one guy pressure washed it
So back in 2019 I laid a big garden wall for a lady out in Riverside, about 90 feet of it, used a buff colored brick with a light mortar. Over time that thing turned grey and dingy, dirt, algae, you name it, and she started sending me photos asking if I messed up the mix. I kept telling her no, it's just dirt, but honestly I was starting to wonder myself. So I go out there two weeks ago to look at it, and her neighbor is pressure washing his driveway. She asks if he can hit the wall real quick. He runs that wand over one section and the brick goes from dull grey back to that same buff color from day one, like someone flipped a light switch. Took him maybe 20 minutes to do the whole wall and it looked brand new, mortar joints and all. I stood there feeling pretty dumb for not suggesting it sooner, and she's now telling every neighbor I built a wall that cleans itself. Any of you guys get called back for stuff that turns out to just be plain old grime? And do you tell customers upfront that brick needs a wash every few years or just wait for the panicked phone call like I did?
