A Nikon F2 service manual lists 47 separate lubrication points, and I've been skipping half of them for years
I picked up a reprint of the original Nikon F2 repair manual at a swap meet in Portland last month for $12, mostly just to have it on the shelf. Flipping through the service section, I counted 47 spots marked for lubrication, and I've honestly been hitting maybe 20 of them on a typical CLA. Some of them are tiny spots like the film advance ratchet pawl and the mirror box pivot pins, places you'd never think to touch if you didn't have the diagram in front of you. I went back and did a full teardown on a beat up F2 body I had sitting in the parts bin, and the advance feel after greasing those extra points is night and day compared to my usual quick job. Now I'm wondering how many other classic bodies have service points I've been ignoring because the manual got lost decades ago. Does anyone here keep original factory manuals on the bench, or have you just built up your own list of spots over the years?
