Hot take: I gave up on replacing shutter blades with NOS stock after a Konica C35 job went sideways
I used to swear by hunting down new old stock shutter blades for every repair, because aftermarket foils always felt like a gamble to me. Then a customer brought in a Konica C35 from a trip to Portland, and I spent 3 hours fitting a NOS blade set that ended up 0.02mm too thick and dragged against the housing. I put the original blades back in after a good cleaning with naphtha and a cotton swab, and the shutter timed fine at every speed on my tester. That was 6 weeks ago and the camera is still holding steady for the guy. Now I clean and reuse original blades unless they are actually bent or rusted, which saves me money and keeps the camera closer to stock. Anyone else here had good luck reusing original shutter blades instead of chasing replacements?
