A professor at KU told me to just sit and listen at my first campus protest, and that advice held up
Back in October I went to my first free speech rally on campus, a counter-protest over a speaker at the student union. My professor told me to leave my phone in my pocket and just watch who says what for an hour before I jumped in. I did, and I counted maybe 6 people doing all the yelling while 200 others stood around filming each other. Now I want to know, has anyone here tried just observing a protest before joining one, and did it change how you saw the whole thing?
