Am I the only one who noticed cable dramas barely get 10 episodes now?
I was looking up the episode count for a show I liked on a wiki page and saw season one had 22 episodes while the newest season only has 8. That was a real surprise to me. It feels like every drama I follow on cable is shrinking, and some of them get cut before they even finish the story. Does this make anyone else worry the old 20 episode seasons are gone for good?
22 episodes was mostly a network TV thing, not cable. Cable shows like The Sopranos or Breaking Bad ran 13 or fewer from the start, so the short seasons were always normal there. What changed is the big broadcast networks cutting 22 episode orders down to 10 or 13, and streaming pulling shows in that same direction.
