Why does nobody talk about the difference between a public apology and a private one when you're trying to get un-canceled? | Canceled People Speak - Free To Speak
Why does nobody talk about the difference between a public apology and a private one when you're trying to get un-canceled?
I got shunned from my local dog park group after a dumb post about a pit bull mix last spring, and I tried two ways to fix it. First I posted a long public apology in the group, which got 40 comments calling me fake and made things worse. Later I sent private messages to the 5 people who actually spoke up, just saying I was wrong and asking if we could talk. Three of them met me for coffee at the park on 5th street, and now we're fine. Has anyone else found that a quiet one-on-one message works better than a big public statement?
