The 2x4 I refused to replace cost me a callback 4 months later

Last spring I was framing a shed in Tulsa and grabbed a 2x4 with a slight bow. Not terrible, maybe a quarter inch over 8 feet. I figured the sheathing would pull it straight. It didn't. By August the siding had a wave in it you could see from the street. Homeowner called me out, took photos, and I had to tear off three panels to fix it. All because I saved 12 bucks on a crooked stud. My crew even mentioned it at the time, said it looked off. I told them to move on. Now I've got a rule: if one of us spots a bad piece, it goes in the cull pile no argument. Even a small bow gets worse once it dries out more. Has anyone else had a cheap shortcut bite them months later, or am I the only one who makes dumb calls under a deadline?
