Tried that feather board trick from a YouTube video, almost lost two fingers
Last month I watched a guy demo a feather board setup for a table saw using just scrap wood and a couple of clamps. I thought I'd give it a shot on a batch of oak trim I was ripping. Problem was I set the fingers too long and the wood kicked back hard, sending the piece straight into my gut. Learned the hard way that the angle and depth matter way more than the video showed. Has anyone else had a jig from online go sideways like that or is it just me?

Every online tutorial skips the scary parts, that's just how it goes. Same thing happened with a sourdough recipe I tried, the video made it look so easy and then my loaf came out like a brick. The difference is your hands are tied up in the fun part of woodworking, and a brick isn't going to take a finger with it. Good on you for catching the details about angle and depth before something worse happened.
