Started using prepaid cards for everything after my bank froze my account over a $12 coffee
My bank locked my card for 3 days after I grabbed coffee at a shop in Austin because their fraud system flagged a $12 charge. I switched to a prepaid card I load with cash at the pharmacy, and now nobody sees where I spend. The trade off is I have no buyer protection if a site scams me, which happened once already. Anyone else using prepaid to keep their spending private, or am I just making my own life harder?
Watching a bank freak out over twelve bucks is insane, their fraud system must be run by people who never bought coffee. Losing your cash to a scam site with zero help getting it back sounds way worse than waiting on hold for a few days.
