Dropped $180 on a 'refurbished' iPod Classic that died in 9 days

Bought it from a guy on OfferUp in Mesa who swore the battery was fresh. It held a charge for about 9 days, then the click wheel stopped responding and it wouldn't sync with my Mac at all. He blocked my number the second I asked for a refund, so the $180 was just gone. Anyone know where to actually get a Classic with a real new battery, or am I better off just fixing my old one myself?
