A library workshop in Austin made me stop copy-pasting code
I went to this free coding meetup at the Austin public library last month, expecting the usual beginner lecture. Instead, the instructor walked up to my screen and watched me paste a stack overflow answer into my project. She asked me to type each line out myself, even if I didn't get it at first. That one change made me actually read the syntax instead of just hoping it worked. Has anyone else had a teacher or mentor force them to slow down like that, even when it felt way slower at the time?
