Switched from a French press to a pour-over cone, took 3 weeks to nail it
I used the same old French press for maybe 8 years. Simple, no fuss, decent coffee. But my buddy in Austin kept pushing me to try a ceramic V60. Said it was cleaner tasting. I finally gave in last month. First few tries were a mess, too bitter, too weak, all over the place. Watched a few videos, got a gooseneck kettle for $30 off Craigslist. Now I get why people obsess over the pour. It's slower, sure, but the flavor is way more clear. The press always left that muddy sludge at the bottom. This doesn't. My only gripe is the paper filters, I go through a box every 2 weeks. Anyone else make the jump and then go back, or is it just me?

Just wait until you taste coffee from a $5 drip machine and realize it's basically the same thing.
