Picked the used Honda over the new Kia back in 2016 and I still hear about it at every family cookout

I had $9,000 and a choice between a 2008 Civic with 140k miles or a brand new Kia Rio on a 6 year loan. Everyone told me the new car was the smart move, but I went with the Civic and it hit 260k miles last month with nothing but oil changes. Anyone else pick the boring used car and get called cheap for it?
