A guy at my comic shop called my pull list 'hoarding' and he was kind of right
I had 14 ongoing series on my pull list and was barely reading any of them, just stacking unread issues in long boxes every Wednesday at my shop in Sacramento. He looked at my list and asked when I last actually finished an arc, which stung because I couldn't remember, so I cut down to 4 titles and started rereading my old runs instead. Has anyone else trimmed their pull list and felt weirdly guilty about dropping books they'd been holding onto for years?
Been there for sure. I had 11 books on my list and realized I was only actually reading like 2 of them each month. The rest just went straight into the box, still in the bag with the board. When I finally dropped Saga and a couple others I'd been getting since issue 1, I felt like I was letting the creators down or something, which makes no sense. What helped was switching to trades for most stuff and only keeping monthlies for the few I really look forward to. Now Wednesday is actually fun again instead of feeling like homework.
