Old timer at the dock in Galveston told me to quit logging bottom time in my head, and it changed how I bid jobs
He asked me my total hours on a sat dive and I tossed out a rough number, and he just shook his head and said the office will always use the lowest number you ever give them. Started writing down every minute in a $3 pocket notebook that stays in my truck, and when the pay dispute came up 4 weeks later I had dates, depths, and surface intervals ready to go. Anybody else keep a paper log for this stuff, or am I just old school?
Didn't some old diver on a forum say the same thing, that the guy with the notebook always wins the pay fight? Keeping paper beats relying on your memory when money's on the line.
