A customer in Mesa told me my cable management looked like spaghetti in a dryer, so I changed one habit
Last month I finished a 6 hour rebuild on a client's desktop in Mesa and I was pretty proud of it until she looked inside and said it looked like spaghetti in a dryer. I laughed it off at first but then she pulled up a photo of her old tech's work and honestly his cables were cleaner than mine. So now I unplug everything and lay the cables out flat on the bench before I even start plugging anything back in, which sounds dumb but it cut my zip tie time in half. Takes me maybe 10 extra minutes up front and I have not had a single return for a loose SATA cable since. Any of you got a trick for routing front panel headers without wanting to flip the desk over?
Watched a buddy of mine fight the same thing on a build last week, and what saved him was plugging in the front panel headers before he even set the board in the case. Sounds obvious but with the board flat on the bench you can actually see the pins and get the little labels lined up without your fingers cramping up. He said it added maybe two minutes total and saved him a solid twenty minutes of cussing.
