Grounded a server rack and tripped a breaker at a client site in Denver
Was doing a routine network upgrade Monday and my grounding strap touched a live rail, popped the whole rack's breaker and took down 12 machines for an hour. Client was cool about it but I learned to always check the PDU switch labels twice, now I keep a cheap voltage tester in my bag. Anybody else had a dumb grounding slip cost them a service call?
Man, I heard a guy at a trade show say he always tapes over the live rails before touching anything. Sounds like you got off easy, at least the client was chill about it.
