Appreciation post: the $8 harbor freight trowel I laughed at outlasted my $60 one
I used to swear by the fancy finishing trowels, figured anything cheap was gonna gouge my work and wobble in my hand. Bought a $60 stainless trowel back in April and the rivets worked loose by the second pour, so out of spite I grabbed an $8 one at the counter in Bakersfield just to finish a 12x20 patio. That cheap thing has been through four pours now and the blade is still flat as a board. I was dead wrong about it, and now the expensive one sits in the truck as a backup. Anybody else got a cheap tool that flat out embarrassed the spendy one?
