Just found out the Hoover Dam used over 4 million cubic yards of concrete, and now I'm second guessing my whole mix design for a 12 yard driveway
I was reading a book about big builds and it said crews poured the dam in blocks as small as 5 feet so it would cool and not crack, which honestly felt like a gut punch when I think about how fast I rush a slab. So now I'm stuck between slow pours with long cure times to fight shrinkage, or just running my normal 4 inch pour and hoping for the best like I have for 14 years. Anybody here actually change up their mix or joint spacing after learning stuff like that, or am I just overthinking a driveway?
